This Pride Month, read beyond the binary with LGBTQIA+ reads. A selection of books are available on Libby- the library reading app and at Miami Public Library. The federal government first recognized June as “Gay & Lesbian Pride Month” in 1999, following a proclamation by President Bill Clinton. Subsequently, in 2009, President Barack Obama officially designated June as LGBT Pride Month. Follow Miami Public Library Youth Department to stay up to date on children's programming. Don't have a library card? You can get one for FREE if you live, work, or go to school in Ottawa County, OK. Just bring in your ID and address verification such as a piece of mail. Patrons from surrounding counties can sign up for $20/year.
